  • Efficient Communication Among Computing Device with IP Networking
IP Networking (internet protocol networking) is a networking that provides communication between all computing devices. To properly communicate hosts on a network, need to use the same communication protocol. Every computer needs to have an IP address that identifies them uniquely from individual host.

IP networking has a group of hosts called IP network wherein they share common physical connection and used internet protocol for network layer communication. Communication occurs when a host sends a data packet to another host by addressing its unique IP address and it is being identified by its recipient.

    How does IP address work?

In IP networking a protocol is a standardized way of carrying out certain actions and formatting data for two or more devices can communicate and understand from one another. IP address with its unique identifier to a certain domain the helps you connect or get access to the internet. An IP address is a series of characters like this one 192.168.12. Users can access any websites without the need to memorize these characters because it of DNS resolvers that translate human-readable domain names into IP addresses.

Address types in an IP Network

    1. Host address - this is an address of a specific host in an IP network, and it is all addresses in the IP network range of IP addresses except for first and last IP addresses since the first and last IP addresses are reserved for special functions.

    2. Network Address - this is the first IP address if IP addresses range where all binary bits in the host portion of the IP address are set to zero. Its purpose is to allow hosts that provide special network services to communicate.

    3. Broadcast Address - the last IP address in the range of IP addresses where all binary bits in the host portion of the IP address are set to one. It is reserved to allow single host to make an announcement to all hosts in the network. This is sometimes called as all host address.

    Advantages of IP Networking

    a. Connectivity and Communication - with network it allows computers and its users to be connected into a local area network (LAN). Transmission of business or non-business information is easier, efficient and less expensive than having no network at all.

    b. Data Sharing - this is one of the important benefits of networking. Thousands of employees can share data much easier and quicker because of IP networking. Access to applications and sharing same data as database, group software development, etc. are made possible.

    c. Hardware Sharing - with IP networking it facilitates the sharing of hardware devices like using one printer to share with everyone in the business organization.

    d. Internet access - accessing Internet needs a network and with IP networking you're able to enjoy the privilege of accessing Internet especially today in the modern society

    e. Internet access sharing - minicomputer networks can allow multiple users to share the same or a single Internet connection which helps users easily allocate to various individuals.

    f. Data security and management - administrators can manage the company's critical data so instead of having this data spread over many computers it can make its own centralized shared servers.

    g. Performance enhancement and balancing - network can enhance performance of applications by distributing the computation tasks the various computers within the network.

    h. Entertainment - it can facilitate different types of games and entertainment in your computer device. It can create multiplayer games which is operated over a local area network.

Commonly used network protocols that run on top of Internet Protocol

    * TCP Transmission control protocol - allows flow of data across connected IP addresses.

    * UDP User datagram protocol - provides transfer of low latency process communication

    * FTP File Transfer Protocol - built purposely to access, manage, load, copy and delete files

    * HTTP Hypertext Transfer Protocol - allow web browsers and websites to view content with the use of port 80.

*HTTPS Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure - runs with encryption via secure sockets layer or transport layer security that served over port 443.

IP networks contribute for an efficient communication among computer devices, and it makes access easier among its users.
